We are now hiring for a 2021 seasonal field technician!

Based primarily in Palmer/Wasilla, field work throughout the Mat-Su Borough

The Field Technician will provide support to Palmer SWCD staff throughout the 2021 summer season. The Field Tech will be responsible for organizing and helping to execute the 10th annual Invasive Weed Smackdown in Palmer.  The technician will assist with conservation projects around the Mat-Su Valley, including assisting with soil and cover crop trials at local farms, surveying and controlling local invasive plants and trees, ATV road surveys for invasive plants, and other projects as needed.

Compensation is DOE ($17-$21/hr.)

Applicants must be have reliable transportation, own appropriate field gear, be flexible, and eager to work on a diverse array of projects.  Must be capable with email, word processors, spreadsheets and gps units.

Preferred applicants:  Bachelor's degree in natural resources or related field, GIS experience, Familiarity with Alaska Flora, Pesticide Applicators license, experience riding ATV/ORV, and Backcountry travel experience.
